How to Choose a Nail Drill: Brushless vs Brushed
When choosing a mid-to-high-end nail drill, the first decision is brushless vs brushed.
Brushless motors have no carbon brush wear, so they are quieter, lower in vibration and longer-lasting — ideal for professionals working long hours. Brushed motors cost less and suit entry-level or backup use.
Ankenail's finished drills (Square S2 / S2-Pro / S3) all use brushless DC motors for an ultra low-vibration experience; the nail pens come in both brushless and brushed versions to fit multiple hosts.
If you work intensively and care about quiet, low-vibration operation, choose brushless; for occasional or budget use, brushed is fine.
